Game 2 of the summer season was at Hardewold, a short course with some generous fairways, and plenty of water hazards. the promised sunshine did arrive after a few holes and as the layers of clothing came off, so the scores improved.
After a five month layoff with no golf, a pair of blobs at holes 1 & 2 was no great surprise, but then with hope of a good score all but gone, i settled into a rhythm of steady points accumulation.
Under reasonable circumstances (some drizzle) we did start our first summer game at Regthuys (Winkel) in West-Friesland.
We played with 10 people and it was very positive to both welcome Sharon and Joe!
I was playing in the first flight with Niall and Mandeep and after 4 hours and 25 minutes we did finish the 18 holes.
Very happy to have some snacks and drinks in the clubhouse where the Regthuys staff were doing really everything to give us a great feeling and they hope that we come back later in the year.
The Summer season is off to a start, not in particularly summery weather it has to be said !
Here are the final standings for those that made it to 3 games during this long and wet winter. Notable that Ian managed to hang on to 2nd place whilst enjoying the southern sunshine, right up until the last game where Mandeep pulled a 20 pointer out of the bag...not seen a handicap reduction notice yet though Mandeep ? !
Onwards to the proper competition, which I er, well, I am defending that one too. :)
Having rearranged our Captain’s scheduled match in favour of a home game, I felt a lot of pressure to achieve at Houtrak. As it turned out, Michael could not play at all at the new tee times, so I carried the burden of guilt to the first tee.
Soon forgot about all that sentimental stuff when I saw John’s shot sail away to distant lands and Niall’s ball fly straight down the middle. It was going to be another classic Bandito’s challenge.

I left this as long as was polite.. the new records are not necessarily in line with what the breakers would want published, but here we go.
In defence, it was effinawful conditions. Read and weep:
The winter games started in beautiful evening sunshine at Olympus. A positively speedy game by Banditos standards meant we finished in the misty sunset. Thanks to Ian and Andy for the pictures. Congratulations to our young winnerr, Joe, on his first outing with the guys.
Michael our new captain, has been busy arranging games for the winter season.
